Beginning January 1, 2025, Mahnomen Health will end our participation with Humana Medicare Advantage. This decision mimics the decision that Sanford Health and Essentia Health have also made in recent months. We, like Sanford Health and Essentia Health, are concerned about the negative impacts that Humana Medicare Advantage plan practices have on our patients. Effective January 1, 2025, Mahnomen Health will be considered an out-of-network provider for Humana Medicare Advantage. As an out-of-network provider, Humana Medicare Advantage will not issue prior authorization for services at our location.
We would like to remind our patients that Medicare Open Enrollment Period is October 15th , 2024 until December 7th, 2024. Patients who wish to stay on their Humana Medicare Advantage plan may experience an increase in costs when utilizing Mahnomen Health in 2025 as we will be an out-of-network provider. Mahnomen Health is encouraging patients to work with their insurance broker or advisor. Patients are also encouraged to visit medicare.gov for thorough review of plan options to ensure they have adequate health insurance coverage.
